Introductions

Hi,

Rob has started things going with some ideas and tasks. I think that this may be rather fast since this list has been up for a day.

Let's see who is here now and what NLs they plan to support.

I'll introduce myself. I am David Fisher and I have been involved with Apache OpenOffice since it arrived in the Apache Incubator. I did a major part of the work with the Apache CMS and setup the SSIs which are used to implement translations of AOO branding and navigation that can be made to appear on the openoffice.org website.

I am here to help NL volunteers take control of the AOO and www.openoffice.org message on NL websites.

Here to help,
Dave

Opinions will vary. Some would say that the project has been around
for 12 years, and over a year at Apache, and getting the localization
effort more organized is long overdue.

I've put up a wiki page to help track this information:
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OOOUSERS/Localization+Volunteers

Volunteers are encouraged to put their names down for areas where they
are interested in helping. Of course, this is not a binding
commitment. But I would like to gauge where we have current interest.
This will also help when I send out a "call for volunteers" later.
It is good for volunteers to see what are needs are.

It seems people is a bit shy... :)

I'm trying to help on the ES localization. My involvement on the
project was (and mainly is) centred on user support, mainly on forums
(I'm the admin on ES forums) and maintaining user guides and an
up-to-date book about Writer (Spanish only, for the moment). Only
recently on the new Apache home I started to do some work on
translation (pootle and the ES website) but as user I'm with this
project since it beginnings... or before: I stated with StarOffice
5.2.

My knowledge on web technologies like CMS and company are almost zero
but I try to help the best I can.

Regards
Ricardo
