Maybe a silly question...

Is there an Open Source ER diagraming / schema development tool?

Right now all I can find available are tools costing around 3K or more.
Pretty expensive for something to draw pretty pictures. Its no wonder a lot of
people use Visio.

Or am I still dating myself?

There is Dia (http://www.gnome.org/projects/dia), which even has tools
to generate SQL statements for various databases. While it's not a
hundred procent stable, I do hear that people are using it in practice.
Myself, I make an informal overview with Dia, but don't try to generate
code from it.

That I refuse to speculate on:)
