Re: Issues building svn 1.7.6 in non apache mode (module
mod_dontdothat)
I have used the INSTALL
$ ./configure
$ make
$ make install
method to successfully build and install subversion from a tar ball for
versions from 1.4.x to 1.7.6 on a variety of Centos and Ubuntu
platforms.
Trying to build version 1.7.6 under Centos 4.9 (Final) and Ubuntu 10.04
LTS resulted in failure due to this same mod_dontdothat issue.
After applying Roman's patch, the make was successful on both systems.
I'm not astute enough to know if I should go ahead and install 1.7.6 or
wait for an "official" solution? ;) Thanks in advance.

Well, can't say but it would have averted my (dumb) question. ;)
Thanks again.

That's "ALL TESTS SUCCESSFUL".
Maybe we should print a one-bit summary like that at the end of the run?

These tests are either not applicable to your test setup or expected to fail.
E.g. windows-specific tests and tests that require a running svnserve or
httpd server will be skipped if you run the default 'make check'.
A test that reproduces a known unfixed problem will XFAIL when it
triggers the problem successfully.
The results you got there look fine.

In the 'patched' 1.7.6 version:
$ make -n install | grep dontdothat
$
> (There is a longer answer telling you about . . .
Which I'm probably not smart enough to understand. <grin>
It didn't cross my mind to run 'make check' until _after_ my previous
post -- someday I may learn to think twice before posting. ;(
On Unbuntu 10.04 LTS, the 87/87 'success' reports looked good but I
haven't figured out what to make of the subsequent string of 'SKIP' and
'X-FAIL' messages or the summary:
Summary of test results:
1583 tests PASSED
46 tests SKIPPED
22 tests XFAILED (1 WORK-IN-PROGRESS)
On Centos 4.9 (Final) the 'make check' reports 'success' up to (73/87)
svndumpfilter_tests.py where it appears to 'hang' for reasons not yet
determined.
Thank you for taking the time to respond to my naive questions.

Check 'make -n install | grep dontdothat'.
(There is a longer answer telling you about how patches that touch
build.conf require following the build-from-checkout (not -from-tarball)
procedure, but I need to commute in about three.. two.. one..)
