portal specification

Hello to all!
The question probably not in topic but around it.
I'm wonder does exist anywhere portal specification? If does not, can you give any links where I can read what portal is and what it must offers?

I think you are looking for the Portlet Specification:
http://www.jcp.org/aboutJava/communityprocess/final/jsr168/

It is about components that run in a portlet container. A portal would
be a portlet container + portal services, + some collection of portlet
applications.
