[jira] [Created] (DAEMON-238) Behaviour of environment variables is
not documented, and is unexpected
Behaviour of environment variables is not documented, and is unexpected
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Key: DAEMON-238
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/DAEMON-238
Project: Commons Daemon
Issue Type: Bug
Reporter: Sebb
The documentation does not currently state whether environment variables are processed before or after command-line options.
It appears that they are processed *after* any command-line options, at least in 1.0.7 amd 1.0.8.
They completely override the corresponding command-line option in both versions.
for example:
set PR_JVMOPTION=-Da=1
prunsrv //US//Service --JvmOption -Da=2 ++JvmOption -Db=1
results in -Da=1 only, as does
set PR_JVMOPTION=-Da=1
prunsrv //US//Service --JvmOption -Da2=1 ++JvmOption -Db=1
If this really is the intended behaviour, it should be documented as such.
