The org.apache.crimson.* packages belong to the Crimson parser which is shipped 
with some versions of JDK 1.4. org.apache.crimson.tree.TexdtNode has nothing to 
do with Xerces.

Something was probably wrong with your classpath, or the value of some system 
property. This really is more of a user query than a bug report. Given that 
this was reported in 2001, I would guess that you already found a solution, but 
if you're still having environment/configuration problems, you should direct 
those questions to the xerces-j-user mailing list.
