This is a tracker task, which will be considered completed when the patch referred to below is successfully submitted to the Proton project.

The Proton Python binding needs to be patched with the file located in {{etc/proton-python-amqp-types.patch}} file in git before it can be used with the ProtonPython shims. This patch adds support for AMQP types not natively supported in Python, and allow a simple mechanism to force the use of a specific AMQP type.

This patch needs to be proposed and submitted to the Qpid Proton sub-project.
