HTML UTF-8 output problem
hi
i have experienced the following strange behaviour while working with xalan:
if i try to output a document
which contains characters
which are not members of the famous ISO-8859-1 charset
(eg. 245 or 251 in ISO-8859-2)
and i do not specify the output encoding
nor in the xsl file (xsl:output)
neither in the java code (XSLTResultTarger::setEncoding)
that character is transformed into "?"
i get the same behaviour
if i specify the output encoding as "UTF-8"
in the xsl file
or in the Java code
or at both places
suprisingly,
i get the rigth behaviour
when i specify the output encoding as "ISO-8859-1"
or "ISO-8859-2"
i am using xalan-j-1.2 with xerxes packaged with it
why can't i use "UTF-8" encoding in output?
