[jira] [Commented] (JCLOUDS-513) Publish sources.jar using standard artifact/classifier name

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/JCLOUDS-513?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=13947082#comment-13947082 ]

Shevek commented on JCLOUDS-513:
--------------------------------

For example, compare this:

http://search.maven.org/#artifactdetails|org.apache.jclouds|jclouds|1.7.1|pom
(slightly odd artifact names/classifiers)

with this:

http://search.maven.org/#artifactdetails|com.google.guava|guava|16.0.1|bundle
(somewhat boring, standard, etc)

>
> Maven Central artifact for jclouds sources is sources-release.tar.gz
> Most tools, IDEs, etc, which manage sources, want a sources.jar artifact/classifier, which contains just the Java sources, rooted at the root, etc, etc as usual.
> Please can you upload to Maven Central using the standard classifier to make our lives much easier as developers? The Maven repository is meant to be used by automated tools, so uploading the standard artifacts will make us love you dearly and buy you more beer.
