[jira] Commented: (SYNAPSE-361) Cant run synapse with java 6 jvm.

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SYNAPSE-361?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=12605848#action_12605848 ]

Jason Dwyer commented on SYNAPSE-361:
-------------------------------------

thanks asankha,

the disconcerting part was that the 1.1.x versions were happy to run in java 6 off the command line ( java 6 has been out since december 2006, and i'm sure i'm not the only one who hasnt even installed a java 5 vm on recent setups...)

and yes, synapse 1.1.x worked very well under java 6 :)

cheers,

j

> Affects Versions: 1.2
> Environment: linux, sun java 6 jdk

> a change introduced in SYNAPSE-302 adds an explicit check in the synapse.sh script to look for '1.5' in the java version string as part of its determination of how to load up bouncy castle provider jars.
> not sure if this is the best way to do this, nor if it was the intended outcome of the change ( or if it was intended to just check for java 1.4...)
> anyway, the upshot is that i cant run synapse 1.2 on my local host without munging the scripts ( and grabbing the relevant bcprov*.jar to put in its place...).
