Introduction: Arthur Ryman

I just got my account so I thought I'd start by introducing myself. 

I'm a software developer at the IBM Toronto Lab where I have been
working on Web services tools since 2000. I am currently leading the
Eclipse Web Standard Tools subproject of the Web Tools Platform (WTP)
project. WTP has WSDL 1.1 tools and we'd like to upgrade these for
WSDL 2.0. I work with Lawrence Mandel at Eclipse.

I am a member of the W3C Web Services Description Working Group and an
editor of the WSDL 2.0 Core Language Part 1 specification. I am also
the editor of the WSDL 2.0 Test Suite. I worked with Sanjiva
Weerawarana at W3C, although he has just left IBM.

I have been working with Lawrence and John Kaputin on the initial
design of the API. I'd like this to map as closely as possible to the
WSDL Abstract Component Model, primarily so we can code the validation
rules directly.

I see Woden as a three way collaboration between Apache, W3C, and
Eclipse. The short term goal is to build an implementation of WSDL 2.0
to help the spec get through the Candidate Recommendation phase. Here
is the work split:

1. W3C WSD WG provides the spec and test suite
2. Apache Woden provides the parser and validator (command line, Ant)
3. Eclipse WTP provides the IDE integration (editor, wizards, explorer, monitor)

I invite other IDEs to join this effort. The more tools that support
WSDL 2.0, the faster it will be adopted by the industry.
