    Resolution: Fixed

Fixed with svn revision 947019. The authentication is done by default now and it can be turned off by simply changing

<property name="authenticate" value="true" />

to 

<property name="authenticate" value="false" />

We can also do it the other way around if there's an interest in that. 
Default credentials are: admin/admin
