[jira] Commented: (HADOOP-684) it would be nice to be able to view log and output files w/in the browser

Yoram Arnon commented on HADOOP-684:
------------------------------------

I routinely view node logs and output files from w/in the browser, w/out saving it first - it's a local browser setup (open with..., always open with...).
I do this with firefox and IE, on windows and linux.
Which OS/browser are you using that doesn't allow this?

> it would be nice to be able to view the node logs and output files from w/in the browser vs saving the file and opening an external application.
> one way to achieve this is to simply add ".txt" as a suffix to the relevant files, eg:
> Index: bin/hadoop-daemon.sh
> ===================================================================
> --- bin/hadoop-daemon.sh        (revision 468719)
> +++ bin/hadoop-daemon.sh        (working copy)

> it has been suggested that perhaps the content type of the log files could be specified, thereby allowing for wider/richer support.
