[jira] [Created] (INFRA-4058) reviews.facebookk.net is not able to access Apache SVN repositories

reviews.facebookk.net is not able to access Apache SVN repositories
-------------------------------------------------------------------

                 Key: INFRA-4058
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-4058
             Project: Infrastructure
          Issue Type: Bug
      Security Level: public (Regular issues)
            Reporter: Marek Sapota

Lately any SVN operation on Apache repositories from reviews.facebook.net fails with an error:
svn: OPTIONS of 'https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf': could not connect to server (https://svn.apache.org)

Since we've lately imported several Apache projects (Hive trunk and 3 branches of HBase) to a Phabricator instance running there and probably generated lots of traffic we we'd like to know if we got blacklisted for SVN use. After the initial imports server use shouldn't be that severe, but if it is still too much we can try reducing number of requests to Apache SVN.

John Sichi commented on INFRA-4058:
-----------------------------------

Hey Mark,

Sorry for the accidental spike. We've reconfigured the tailer so that it shouldn't do that again in the future. Would it be possible to get the ban lifted?

Mark Thomas resolved INFRA-4058.
--------------------------------

    Resolution: Won't Fix

Yes, you have been blacklisted.

Hitting 200k+ ops in 24 hours for 3 out of 4 days triggers an automatic 30 day ban. As an aside, 500k+ ops in 24 hours triggers the same ban.

Fri Oct 21 23:55:30 2011 140.211.15.127 360513 WARN

There is no need for these sorts of traffic levels under any circumstances. svn exports [1] are provided explicitly to ensure that high loads such as these are not placed on the ASF svn servers.

The ban has been lifted.

Note that if this IP gets banned again, we are unlikely to lift the ban earlier than the standard 30 days.
