Hi Simon,

I don't think there was ever real agreement with everyone on doing
that, and before that there was "agreement" to move all the samples
out and only move them back when working but it turned out that people
didn't express their disagreement till after that worked actually
started, and in either case I don't think there was ever real
agreement on what "working" actually meant.

What ever might have been agreed in the past I'm not sure that moving
something that isn't perfect out now would actually help speed up
getting the release out because when it actually comes down to it if
someone finds their favorite sample isn't in an RC that they're
reviewing it usually means they want a respin to put it back in. I
think we'll just need to fix up enough to get three people happy
enough to vote and what the work entails is going to depend on who
those three voters are and as we don't have three yet i guess this is
going to drag on.

IIRC, there was agreement on that thread that samples that don't work
should be taken out, but there were objections to removing samples that
do work.

Ok I'll look forward to you sporadic help. I will point out that we
tried the approach you suggest with Beta2 and had a 100+ email grumpy
thread when people didn't like samples getting taken out. With the
help we have IMHO its better to get a release out soon than sit on it
for months or years as its not perfect and this is the approach I'm
going to take with the next RCs.

Ok, well for a 2.0 release I think we should either fix or remove
stuff that doesn't work. I'll have some time but it's a bit sporadic
at the moment.

Ok well thanks for looking. I think we all knew there were issues with
some samples, and we saw what happened with the beta1 release when we
tried to sort all that out and it descended into unconstructiveness. I
can fix some of those that you've pointed out, though i wont have much
time for a little while, but there are some i'm not interested in. I'd
have preferred to just release what we have quickly and fix things
incrementally in more frequent releases but for now i'll wait a little
while and see if we get any fixes made and then look at an RC2 in a
week or two.

I find an old version of settings.xml on a backup disc I have. I have
the config of the mirrors tag correct now and have made more progress.
Not quite done but here's what I've found in case someone has some
time....

Sorry for the delay, I'm done with widget fixes (which now does not
depend on the binding.http directly) and made sure store sample is
working with the new changes. Let's get a new 2.0 RC out...

Its now next Wednesday, how are you doing with this? How much longer
do you think you'll need? If i spin an RC without this would anyone
review it? Has anyone reviewed the current state of trunk to see if
its something they'd vote for in a 2.0 release?

Just FYI, I'm 95% done with the widget changes, just trying to make
sure some corner cases are handled properly. I should be checking in

Any help with reviewing the current state of trunk samples, builds etc

I want to properly fix the Widget issues from trunk and would
appreciate couple days. We could target cutting the new RC over the
weekend or by Monday. Any other help you might need with that ?

I'm not against waiting a couple weeks, but if we do that, I'd like to
go ahead and publish beta4.

I still want to do more on RC1 (but am being very slow, sorry). Maybe

It's OK by me Lunciano. I think we're going to have to respin here anyhow.

I have just came back from vacation end of last week and I'm finally
getting time to go over this and will send feedback soonish. On a
related topic, would you guys be ok on waiting for finishing up Wink
1.2 release which a initial RC was done over the weekend, so that we
can have it as part of the 2.0 release ?

I'd like to run through the samples before a respin. Won't get to it
until this evening.

Thanks for reviewing.

Raymond, you're building trunk not the 2.0 source distribution. The
compliance tests are taken out of the release build because the OASIS
artifacts haven't been released.

Simon, It looks like you've not included the staging repo, the samples
aren't finding the 2.0 pom's in Maven central because the release
hasn't been published yet.

I can add a sentence to the top sample README saying what it is but
what else if anything needs updating before doing a respin just for
that?

Hmm, I'm also having problems with the helloworld sample. We need to
do some work on the getting-started readme. With a clean repo on linux
running using the first suggested approach in the readme I get.

I tried on a different machine and the JMS related otest passed. Maybe it's a timing issue waiting for the JMS response from the queue.

I saw your problem too but it works on a different machine.

The maven build is tricky :-(

Thanks,
Raymond

Hi Raymond

I've seen that a few times in my normal development build. It seemed
to be behaving itself recently but obviously not.

I did however see an issue I've not seen before when building the
"all" source on linux with a clean repo.

[INFO] ------------------------------------------------------------------------
[INFO] Error for project: Apache Tuscany SCA Comet Binding Runtime (during insta
ll)
[INFO] ------------------------------------------------------------------------
[INFO] Error building POM (may not be this project's POM).

Project ID: null:jersey-server:bundle:null

Reason: Cannot find parent: com.sun.jersey:jersey-project for project: null:jers
ey-server:bundle:null for project null:jersey-server:bundle:null

Haven't looked into it yet.

In parallel i'm starting to look through the samples. The first issues
is that the top level README is empty. It's like this in svn so not
sure what's happened.

More later
