binary distribution of Perl 5.8.2 for AIX5.1

Hi, Group,

This is my first time posting, wish everyone a happy new year!

My question is, does anyone have a perl 5.8.2 BINARY distribution for the AIX5.1? By this distribution, I mean the equivalent of the window's binary distribution, Perl-5.8-win32-bin.exe under http://perl.apache.org/dist/win32-bin/, which has the perl engine and lots of packages built in, such as XML, HTML, SSLeay, LWP, etc.

The alternative for me is to build the perl 5.8 on AIX5 and install these packages myself, but my first shot is trying to ask the group if anyone has done that before, and would like to share this priceless information with us.

I searched the web, all the binary distributions for AIX5.1 so far do not seem to have these packages included.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Jun Liu

Randy maintains that windows perl binary with other packages for the
convenience of the win32 users, it's not really part of the modperl project.
He is an active maintainer and he just happens to put it on perl.apache.org to
offload the traffic from his site. We have no developers who work on AIX and
wish to maintain a similar package to Randy's, so I guess you should try to
look elsewhere.

Thanks Stas!

The file

    http://perl.apache.org/dist/win32-bin/Perl-5.8-win32-bin.exe

is the distribution I have for the windows, and I don't think it is the ActiveState version. I did use ActiveState binary distribution for windows before, it is not as comprehensive as the version mentioned above in terms of the packages included. So I guess my wish is to have the AIX5.1 binary version equivalent to the version in the above file.

The AIX5.1 binary I found at http://aixpdslib.seas.ucla.edu/packages/perl.html does not have the packages I need (such as Crypt::SSLeay, HTML, and LWP).

Is this a better description?

Thank you very much for your help!

If you are talking about the ActivePerl build for AIX, you should ask at
ActiveState. If not, then I don't know, as we don't supply one.
