[jira] Closed: (FOR-520) new skin using views

Thorsten Scherler closed FOR-520:

    Resolution: Fixed

I appllied the patch to trunk. Thanks. I guess in the beginning we will focus on the bugs of the selected contracts. ;-) Mostly it is the content-contract that causes bugs.

It is better to create separate issues in the Issue Tracker for each
item that you need to address. That way we can fix each one, then
close its Issue.

No, please do not send any patches to the mailing list.
We must have every contribution going via the Issue Tracker.

These are some of the main reasons for that ...

* Contributors need to officially donate the contribution to
the Apache Software Foundation. The "add attachment" facility
in Jira does ensure that.

* Patches get overlooked in the mailing list archives.

* Recording each patch enables us to keep tack of it.

* Using Jira means that committers can "assign" the issue to
themselves, so that other committers don't also work on it.
We need to ensure no duplication of effort.

* We don't want every subscriber to the mailing list to waste
space in their local mail archives with unnecessary attachments.

* Mailing list management software often rejects certain attachments
because they might contain Windows viruses.

Maybe we should keep this open. As I keep improving the skin, it'll be
easier for me to update JIRA. Or should I just send patches to the
mailing list?
