[jira] [Created] (PIVOT-1065) Consider deprecation of org.apache.pivot.functional packages
Roger Lee Whitcomb created PIVOT-1065:
-----------------------------------------
Summary: Consider deprecation of org.apache.pivot.functional packages
Key: PIVOT-1065
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/PIVOT-1065
Project: Pivot
Issue Type: Improvement
Components: core-functional
Affects Versions: 2.1.0
Reporter: Roger Lee Whitcomb
Assignee: Roger Lee Whitcomb
Fix For: 2.1.0
With the advent of lambdas and functional programming in Java 8, and the switch to Java 8 required in version 2.1.0 it seems like the classes in the org.apache.pivot.functional.functions and org.apache.pivot.functional.monad packages are not necessary anymore, since all the functionality is already present in the base JDK. Nor are any of the classes actually used in other Pivot code (being added as conveniences for user applications).
