Review comment:
       Yes, marshmallow schema validation was failing with the default (unspecified) values for `result_type` and `result_format`. Essentially, marshmallow and mypy cannot agree here. I tried using https://pypi.org/project/marshmallow-enum/ here as well, to no avail.
