Apache 2.0.5x on Linux 64-bit

Hi,

I need to clarify some of my doubts,

How can I build Apache 2.0.5x source on Linux (64-bit) machine?

Do I need to have a specific installer or I can use
"httpd-2.0.59.tar.gz" only?

On what all 64-bit platforms, Apache 2.0 or Apache 2.2 is supported?

Please reply.

Thanks,

Renu

In general you should use Apache 2.2 instead of Apache 2.0 if possible,
especially if you are building for 64 bit. As far as I remember Apache 2.0
has some problems with 64 bit (I do not remember the details now).
Apache 2.2 works smoothly with 64 bit, but on Linux you might be hit
by an apr-util issue with the expat library detection (see
http://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=28205 for the gory details),
There is a patch available for this (http://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/attachment.cgi?id=19375).

Rüdiger
