Never do this. :) Plenty of room in the world for all.

This is the summary of my talk (sorry, I had to make it up quickly)
"Last year, we introduced Apache FlexJS. This time, lets dig deeper into
FlexJS and see how to get set up and start building great web applications
in no time. We will also compare FlexJS with AngularJS 2.0 and show how you
can leverage MXML, AS3 and the FlexJS compiler to build robust and well
maintained codebases."

In this talk, was thinking of covering:
* Download and setup of the sdk
* How to get and run the example apps
* Modify the examples and create a new application
* A few slides comparing FlexJS and AngularJS2.0

My suggestions for your proposal would be:
* Component creation in FlexJS (AS + JS)
* FlexJS internals, compiler, optimization, etc
* Using third party JavaScript libraries with FlexJS
* Why FlexJS is better than AngularJS ;-)

Thanks,
Om

I don’t know the rules on transfer. You’d have to check the EULA. @Mike
do you have the old FB 4.7 installer? Did you try your 4.6 key on 4.7
and/or the CC version?

Hello All, I am new to this space and by your talents not a coder - but designer, a UI Developer with a small team here in Adelaide embracing AS3 and Flex in all our commercial web and mobile APP projects.

We are about to rapidly release 3 Retail APPs l, nearly all Community solutions one is our own project and the others are for clients.

Om, great presentation.

If there is anything we can provide, maybe end application examples, maybe a bunch of us can lead by example? It will be very little for us to test compile our projects with FlexJS (adjust what's not supported) and provide some real world examples of the benefits Now!

Well I was using 4.7 for a year or two and Eclipse/4.7 what I wrote a lot of the FalconJx compiler with! I have my 4.6 license code but I can't find the 4.7 in my account.

I guess it doesn't really matter.

FlexJS works in FB by pretending to be a Flex SDK. It isn’t perfect but
mostly works. I haven’t tried IntelliJ to see why we can’t fake it out to
some degree. Does anybody know if there are small things we can do that
would make a difference?

I keep saying this but, I wish I had more time to help you guys out. Right
now I am just trying to make ends meet so I haven't been able to get
anything going.

After watching your talk Om, I have a better understanding about the whole
shabang.

I do agree that if you had the man/women power, this could definitely
compete with the frameworks you have mentioned.

Alex, I had FlashBuilder 4.7 years ago but, now that it's the creative
cloud I can't get it. Is there anyway I can get my hands on a license? I
use IntelliJ for AS/Java and as we know I wouldn't even be able to test any
FlexJS with that right now.

@Alex

I had all the apps(installers) a couple years ago but in my cleaning after
I left AS dev, I deleted them. When I got back into Flash in March using
Feathers, I downloaded the 4.6 that is still up for download and started
with that. I then switched to IntelliJ for the mobile dev.

Like I said, right now it really doesn't matter. I'm guessing ti would take
me a least a week of time to really get back into all the code and building
the SDK, figuring out what is going on with the compiler, so I will just
wait until I have that time if it comes around.

I just really didn't want to deal with Adobe and customer service asking
about this since the key is not in my account but the 4.6 one is.

Okay, I went ahead and sent them a proposal. I think it will be better if
there are multiple proposals for talks. Just being one out of 30 to 40
talks will not help us much. This year, I expect a whole lot of React and
AngularJS 2.0 related talks.

Also, since AngularJS 2.0 is about to come out, it would be great if we can
compare FlexJS with that. Webcomponents == MXML, Typescript ==
Actionscript, Traceur == FalconJX, etc. I think we have an almost fully
working SDK + framework by the time AngularJS 2.0 gets released.

Does someone want to take this up and come up with a proposal for a
presentation?

Thanks,
Om

Thanks,
Om

If you think you’ll have time to prepare a presentation for the
conference, it would probably be better for you to do it again.

Awesome! I’ll try to find time to watch. Is their CFP open yet? Did you
submit something for this year?
