Entities not displaying correctly

Hi

We are running Solaris 2.6 with Xerces J 1.2.1 and Xalan J 1.2.1

When doing a DOMParse on an xml document it encodes the entities (like
&radic;) to UTF-8. When Xalan picks it up and displays it, all entities >
255 do not display correctly (they are replaced with a square box). In the
base XSL stylesheets I specify:
<xsl:output method="html" encoding="UTF-8"/>

It seems that Xalan does not know what to do with the encoded characters.

Any help?
