[VOTE] Apache Tika 0.6 release candidate #1

Hi Folks,

I have posted a candidate for the Apache Tika 0.6 release. The source code
is at:

http://people.apache.org/~mattmann/apache-tika-0.6/rc1/

See the included CHANGES.txt file for details on release contents and latest
changes. The release was made using the Maven2 release plugin, according to
Jukka Zitting's notes:

http://tinyurl.com/yz2cqls

This plugin creates a Tika 0.6 tag at:

http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/lucene/tika/tags/0.6/

And a staged M2 repository at repository.apache.org, here:

https://repository.apache.org/content/repositories/orgapachetika-058/

Please vote on releasing these packages as Apache Tika 0.6. The vote is open
for the next 72 hours. Only votes from Lucene PMC are binding, but everyone
is welcome to check the release candidate and voice their approval or
disapproval. The vote passes if at least three binding +1 votes are cast.

[ ] +1 Release the packages as Apache Tika 0.6.

[ ] -1 Do not release the packages because...

Thanks!

Cheers,
Chris

I noticed two Excel cell formatting tests failing when I tried the
build on Windows. I don't consider this a blocker since the build
works fine on my Linux desktop and the issue looks like a simple
locale problem that can be worked around if needed. We can target a
fix for the next release.

For the record, the SHA1 checksum of the tika-0.6-src.zip I tested is
c98564a2ea6e5b88fefd45fdc640c5210939a52b.

+1 to releasing this RC as Apache Tika 0.6. (SHA1 sum of checked
tika-0.6-src.zip was c98564a2ea6e5b88fefd45fdc640c5210939a52b).

Noticed that the md5 file has a path in the filename column, breaking the
usual idiom of using 'md5sum -c tika-0.6-src.zip.md5' as it cannot find the
file. Very minor to me, and not a blocker.

Dave

The release # referenced in the email isn't as important as the process
described. The process has and will be used in all Tika releases 0.5+ on
forward.

Yep, they are separate. Site is generated from:

http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/lucene/tika/site

> If i generate a site from the source i get wrong information (Release

That's because the release didn't include an updated tika-site. Separately,
I've updated the site, as of today but in general the two are entirely
separate. I usually only update the site after the release vote has passed.

Is the site generated from an other place than the released src package ?

If i generate a site from the source i get wrong information (Release
0.4 etc.)...

Hi Dave,

Nope, no site available for review, just the M2 packages and the SRC zip file. Once the vote for those 2 pass, I will cook up the site updates, commit them, and let Jukka's script take care of the rest...
