I noted a message on this discussion group
about the use of Apache FOP to create PDF files.

I have adapted my current project to use
FOP, and the results are encouraging. I still
have the PDFBox code that can make the
PDF file directly, but FOP has shown some promise.

Thanks to the folks on this discussion group
for mentioning this alternative.
