Tomcat Ready for Prime Time?

How robust is Tomcat?  Can it really be used in a high stress production environment?

I know that Apache is very robust?  Is Tomcat on the same level?

Have there been any stress tests done on Tomcat?  Is there any independent performance data on Tomcat?

We are considering the WebLogic enterprise application server.  Can Tomcat be considered a true competitor of WebLogic?
