cvs seems to be screwed for jetspeed

Summary: cvs seems to be screwed for jetspeed
           Product: Jetspeed
           Version: 1.3a1
          Platform: Other
        OS/Version: Other
            Status: NEW
          Severity: Major
          Priority: Other
         Component: webapp
        AssignedTo: jetspeed-dev@jakarta.apache.org
        ReportedBy: kimptoc_mail@yahoo.com

I want to see what code has changed since I last took a snapshot eg using cvs
diff -D 2001-10-08, or by just updating my workspace back to that date.

[kimptoc@www jakarta-jetspeed]$ cvs up -D 2001-10-08
P RELEASE-TODO
cvs update: in directory bin:
cvs update: cannot open CVS/Entries for reading: No such file or directory
cvs update: cannot open CVS/Tag: No such file or directory
cvs [update aborted]: cannot write <CVS/Template file>: No such file or
directory

...but I get the above error

The cvs diff gives this error:

Terminated with fatal signal 11
Core dumped; preserving /tmp/cvs-serv62682 on server.
CVS locks may need cleaning up.

I presume one or more of the cvs files for jetspeed has a problem - please can
it be fixed...
