Summary: Add "toDir" to SignJar task for use with nested
filesets, to avoid resigning.
Product: Ant
Version: 1.6.2
Platform: PC
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P2
Component: Core tasks
AssignedTo: dev@ant.apache.org
ReportedBy: drollo@ets.org
While the SignJar task can accept a nested fileset of jars to be signed, there
is no way to make the task output the signed jars to a different directory (the
jars will always be signed "in-place"). This makes it hard for the SignJar task
to be "smart" and avoid re-signing jars when the nested fileset is used.
Please add a "toDir" attribute to the SignJar task. This attribute would likely
only be valid when a nested fileset is provided. It is also important that the
SignJar task would NOT resign jars in the fileset if the dates of the source and
destination files indicate there is no need to resign them.
The ant mailing list archives mention one strategy for this: Have the SignJar
task extend the Copy task, thereby reusing the Copy task logic to determine if
the sign operation should occur.
