Null Values

I can´t get my Axis Client to work with an BEA 6.1 sp6 Webservice.
The Problem is that bea uses

                                        <statKz xsi:null="1"/>

to serialise Null Values (1999) but the DeserializerImpl-Class from Axis 
checks for the xsi:nil  (2001) Attribute to determine Null-Values.
So i get an java.lang.NumberFormatException when the Deserializer tries to 
create a new Instance of Integer or Long with an Empty String.

        return constructor.newInstance(new Object[] {source});


Any hints to how i can avoid this problem?
