httpd 2.0.35 + httpd-ldap fails to build

httpd 2.0.35 release tarball + httpd-ldap from CVS fails to build with the

httpd is being built on a RedHat 7.2 system with Redhat errata applied.
httpd was configured with the following:

 ./configure --enable-so --enable-ldap=shared --enable-auth_ldap=shared

The build fails with the same errors after adding: "-lldap -llber" to EXTRA_LIBS
in build/config_vars.mk. httpd-ldap was checked out within the last 7 days,
files carry creation dates of February 8 2002.
