[users@httpd] Apache Sending only tiny .html files

Folks,

I am using apache:
Server version: Apache/2.0.40
Server built: Feb 25 2003 05:01:56

On a redhat 9 system.

I'm using coldfusionmx and PostgreSQL.

Everything has been working fine for months until a few hours ago.
(What happened a few hours ago? I dunno. I would say "nothing", but I
know better.)

Now the server will not serve pages with the .html suffix if it is over
255 characters long, and only from the base directory. It returns
nothing at all, and no error messages are put in the log. Shorter
files, or files with different suffixes or from subdirectories all work
fine. Coldfusion is still working, and PostgreSQL is still working too.

I have only one possible hint, and that is in the error logs I see these
enteries, which do not show up in any other error logs in my archive.

The log has about 20 of entries like these.

I hope I have supplied all needed information, but if not please let me
know what else you need to know. I'm hoping someone has seen this
problem and can say "the fix is this..."

Please suggest what I might do to get the server running properly again.

Thank you,
Mr. Char-Lez Braden
