[jira] [Created] (IMPALA-11077) Add first-tier toolchain support for Ubuntu 20.04

Laszlo Gaal created IMPALA-11077:
------------------------------------

Summary: Add first-tier toolchain support for Ubuntu 20.04
                 Key: IMPALA-11077
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/IMPALA-11077
             Project: IMPALA
          Issue Type: New Feature
          Components: Infrastructure
    Affects Versions: Impala 4.1.0
            Reporter: Laszlo Gaal

Impala currently supports Ubuntu 20.04 using a compatibility approach: taking advantage of the fact that the Ubuntu 18.04 version of our supporting libraries run well on Ubuntu 20.04, it "recognizes" Ubuntu 20.04 as a compatible variant of Ubuntu 18.04.
Since Ubuntu 18.04 will approach the end of its regular maintenance period in about a year, full support should be added for the subsequent release, which has been generally available for almost two years now.
The first step is to extend the toolchain project with full Ubuntu 20.04 support.
