Community installer stats for NetBeans 26
Hi All,
Now that the community installers for NetBeans 27 are up, I was taking
note of the download statistics for NetBeans 26. I thought they'd be
interesting to share.
Windows exe x86_64 189,079 (82.91%)
macOS pkg x86_64 11,689 (5.13%)
macOS pkg arm64 12,988 (5.70%)
Linux deb x86_64 9,161 (4.02%)
Linux deb arm64 1,992 (0.87%)
Linux rpm x86_64 3,146 (1.38%)
TOTAL 228,055
Figures from GitHub API via live view at
https://tooomm.github.io/github-release-stats/?username=friends-of-apache-netbeans&repository=netbeans-installers
This is a 10x - 15x increase on community installer usage prior to
NetBeans 26. In previous years of those, this was the slowest 3 month
period of the year - be interesting to see if that holds true now.
Stats for the binary and source zips from ASF CDN are at
https://infra-reports.apache.org/ (committers only, requires log in).
The various stats there don't properly align though, and don't cover
the full release period. Binary zip is probably comparable to the
total installer downloads, source about a third of that. Curiously it
reports a higher Windows percentage for the zips than with the
installers, which seems a little unlikely. Snap and other sources are
not measured as far as I know?
Just some food for thought ... as with all stats, to be enjoyed with a
good pinch of salt! :-)
Best wishes,
Neil

IIRC it's https://github.com/apache/netbeans/blob/master/platform/openide.actions/src/org/openide/actions/HeapView.java
?

Hi,
I want to reuse the swing component in the netbeans UI showing the
memory usage inside a program started with netbeans. Maybe I can extend
the existing component to switch to show the memory usage of a runnign
program.
Any idea where to find the source code for the UI component which shows
the memory usage in netbeans?
I have looked into the source with github. I searched for names
including "Memory" but cauld not find it. Maybe the component is in the
profiler packages?
best

Thanks! Unfortunately, as has been discussed before (on here I think)
the headline stats from the CDN are well off for some reason. The
bytes and hits_unique may be more useful - they are closer in line
with each other, anyway. Try checking the count and overall bytes
against the size of the downloads! I have asked infra about this in
the past but never really got an answer on why they're so far out.
The country stats are very obviously wrong too.
Best wishes,
Neil
