Xerces Perl

Gentlemen,

I am attempting to build Xerces-Perl under Windows 2000 Professional using
the most recent version of Cygwin that I can find.  I get errors almost
right away in the Handler section, such as

PerlContentCallbackHandler.hpp:10: base class `ContentHandler' has
incomplete type
PerlContentCallbackHandler.hpp:27: parse error before `&' token
PerlContentCallbackHandler.hpp:40: parse error before `*' token
PerlContentCallbackHandler.cpp:40: parse error before `&' token

which suggests the source has not been generated properly.  The perl
MakeFile.PL command was also run under Cygwin.

Perhaps you can advise me.
