I updated the summary since the latest JLine still has problems and JLine 2 isn't being updated much, so this issue is to get the current JLine 2 solution working as much as possible for 2.5+. Subsequent activity should focus on using JLine 3 for Groovy 3.0+ (see GROOVY-8162).
