Single selection box on the table

Hi,

Pretty simple to explain (I think), but pretty complex to implement. I am 
looking for some advice on the following scenario (eventually some code 
samples if any).

I'd like to have a table that displays element according to:
ID     Short Name       Long Name
-----   ------------------- ----------------------------
100   a short name  a much longer name

On the left side of each line I have a check box. I have as well on the 
bottom a select button. When pressing this select button, I'd like to have 
on the server the information about which row has been selected?
