Hi Archie.

Whether removal/replacement of the document element is supported is
implementation dependent.  DOM 3 Core says that if it is not supported, a
NOT_SUPPORTED_ERR DOMException should be thrown.  So I think Batik should either
throw the exception or ensure that it works.
