[jira] Created: (DIRSTUDIO-221) Improve Object Class selection in the New Entry Wizard

Improve Object Class selection in the New Entry Wizard
------------------------------------------------------

                 Key: DIRSTUDIO-221
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/DIRSTUDIO-221
             Project: Directory Studio
          Issue Type: Improvement
          Components: studio-ldapbrowser
    Affects Versions: 1.0.1
            Reporter: Pierre-Arnaud Marcelot
            Priority: Minor
         Attachments: objectClassSelection.png, objectClassSelection_Mockup.png

I'd like to propose an improvement for the object class selection page of the New Entry Wizard.

I think it would be great to add an icon in front of each object class name to indicate the type of each object class (whether it is Structural, Auxiliary or Abstract).
I'll upload a mockup of what it could be.

Another improvement, I'd like to add is a confirmation message when a user goes to the next page and he has not selected any structural object class. We could have a message telling "No structural object class is selected. Are you sure you want to continue ?".

What do you think ?

Not at all. I just draw this using Gimp.

I'm pleased you like the ideas, I'll try to implement this in the next few days then.

Thanks.

    Attachment: objectClassSelection_Warning.png

Here you can find how the new object class selection page looks like.

Instead of creating a confirmation popup when leaving the page, I created a warning in the top of the window when the current selection of object classes does not have any structural object class.

WDYT ?

Very good ideas, PAM. Please go for it.

Your first point should be easy to implement via label providers. I guess you already implemented it for you mock?
