Problems with the muse tutorial
-------------------------------
Key: MUSE-152
URL: http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/MUSE-152
Project: Muse
Issue Type: Bug
Environment: Linux 2.6.17-10-386 #2 Fri Oct 13 18:41:40 UTC 2006 i686 GNU/Linux
Kubuntu edgy
JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/j2sdk1.5-sun
tomcat 5.5
Reporter: Bertrand
Assigned To: Dan Jemiolo

Dan Jemiolo commented on MUSE-152:
----------------------------------
Yes, this is the original WSDL - as the tutorial says, you need to add in the XSD/WSDL files that are imported, which you can get from the documentation. On the web site, look in the "OASIS Standards" section of the documentation. Or, you can find it on your file system directly by going to:
/docs/specs/wsrf/1.2
/docs/specs/wsn/1.3
/docs/specs/wsdm/1.1
Once you have these files in place, you can run wsdl2java and the WSDL will be loaded.

Attachment: Tomcat4.log
I copied WsResource.rmd from muse/samples/wsn-producer/wsdl/ to tomcat/wepapps/muse2_test/WEB-INF/services/muse/wsdl/ and now the server does not throw any "file not found" errors anymore. It actually seems to work a bit, at least the client is receiving messages (see MyTestClient4.log). However the server still keeps throwing certain errors (see Tomcat4.log).
It seems tomcat is deploying 29/11/2006 09:44:35 org.apache.ws.muse.test.wsrf.MyCapability$1 run (where does this $1 come from?)
$ unzip -l tomcat/webapps/muse2_test/WEB-INF/lib/muse2_test.jar

As far as I know I only edited files with a editor (kate) leaving a "~" for auto-saved files...... where this $1 comes from... and also strange that there is only a MyCapability$1 deployed but no MyCapability.

Bertrand updated MUSE-152:
--------------------------
Attachment: Tomcat2.log
tomcat/webapps/muse2_test/WEB-INF/services/muse/wsdl$ ls
WsResource.wsdl
Thus those other files are not deployed there, but I would have expected the WAR file would deploy them (the tutorial did not state that it had to be done manually). Now did a copy of all *.wsdl and *.xsd files from the muse2_test dir to tomcat/webapps/muse2_test/WEB-INF/services/muse/wsdl
However now a 500 error is thrown by the server (see Tomcat2.log)

Attachment: MyTestClient3.log
On the part of the .xsd and .wsdl files. I already copied them to $PROJECT_DIR as indicated before because otherwise wsdl2java would not work. However it nowhere states that I manually have to copy them to the tomcat/webapps/muse2_test/WEB-INF/services/muse/wsdl directory. The file not found error was thrown by the deployed application and not by the wsdl2java tool. I would expect these files would just be deployed by the .war file. Maybe you can comment on this.

Attachment: Tomcat3.log
Sorry that below I might state some things I could solve myself, but I am just going to be very verbose in each step I take and every error I encounter.
On the subject of the error shown in Tomcat2.log and the suggested solution it now throws a new exception. (/WEB-INF/services/muse/wsdl/WsResource.rmd (No such file or directory)) see also Tomcat3.log and MyTestClient3.log . This file WsResource.rmd can be found in the muse2 sample directories, but I however found no instructions to include this one in my project (wsdl2java did also not complain about this file). If this file should have been generated, it wasn't done in my $PROJECT_DIR .
