under the installation options, you have to accept the examples installer, or 
the default (server.xml) cannot run catalina.  it crashes complaining that 
there is no example folder.  hmmm, well, i chose not to install it for a 
reason.  anyway, good luck with that.  works on my previous version of tomcat 
(4.0.40).
