Jetspeed Toolbox

Hi,

I have build a portal on jetspeed 2.2.0. In version 2.2.1 ther is the
new feature Toolbox.

How can I use it? Now, I open my portal with url .../my-portal/desktop?
Do I need .../my-portal/ui/ as url for the toolbox?

I have seen, there is a new folder "min-ui-pages". What are the
difference between this and folder min-pages? How can I migrate?

kind regards

Frank

Re: Jetspeed Toolbox

Posted by Woonsan Ko <wo...@yahoo.com>.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to use toolbox portlet with desktop pipeline because the toolbox portlet depends on the JetUI component, which is not enabled in the desktop pipeline.
I'm not sure but I think it could work with /portal/ pipeline with 'server' option as well because the layout decorators has been changed to support to access JetUI components by default.
Anyway, it doesn't work with /desktop/ pipeline.

Re: Jetspeed Toolbox

Posted by Frank Otto <ot...@delta-barth.de>.
I use the desktop pipeline (js 2.2.0). Can I use the toolbox or I have
to use ui pipeline? On ui pipeline I don't see the user page, but on
desktop pipeline no toolbox.

Re: Jetspeed Toolbox

Posted by Woonsan Ko <wo...@yahoo.com>.
Ah, sorry. You're right!
I've confirmed that the new valve, PageProfilerValve, does not use the profiler component with the 'ajax' option.
You need to the default option, 'server', to use the profiler.
However, I still think you can use the toolbox portlet with 'server' option. Right?

Re: Jetspeed Toolbox

Posted by Frank Otto <ot...@delta-barth.de>.

Re: Jetspeed Toolbox

Posted by Woonsan Ko <wo...@yahoo.com>.
Hi Frank,

AFAIK, the /ui/ pipeline would not support the profiler any more. Instead, it introduces user space instead with space navigator.
So, if you want to use that profiling to override a page by a user page, then you need to stick to /portal pipeline.
I think you could use /portal/ pipeline as well with ajax option.

Kind regards,

Woonsan

Re: Jetspeed Toolbox

Posted by Frank Otto <ot...@delta-barth.de>.
Hi Woonsan,

thanks for your answer.

But If I set jetui.customization.method to ajax, the user pages will not
be shown. It always shows the default-page.psml from min-pages folder
and not from /user/MY-USER. With jetui.customization.method=server it
works fine.

How can I solve this?

kind regards

Frank

Re: Jetspeed Toolbox

Posted by Woonsan Ko <wo...@yahoo.com>.
Hi Frank,

The documentation of Jetspeed-2.2.1 has not been completed yet. You can monitor the documentation task for this feature here: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/JS2-1111

Anyway, I'd like to explain the feature briefly.
The new toolbox portlet would work nicely with the new JetUI pipeline (/jetspeed/ui). The portlet could work well with the existing /portal pipeline as well if the new layout/portlet decorator templates/styles are used (or merged to the existing ones.)
To use JetUI pipeline properly, you need to configure the following property to 'ajax' instead of 'server' (the default value) in /jetspeed/WEB-INF/jetspeed.properties:

#-------------------------------------------------------------------------
# J E T U I
#-------------------------------------------------------------------------
# customization method, only applicable when jetui.render.engine = server
# values ( ajax | server )
jetui.customization.method = ajax

Also, there could be multiple page folders such as "min-ui-pages", "ui-pages" or "pages" for demonstration purpose. You will find more information later. Watch JS2-1111. :-)
Anyway, Jetspeed-2 portal will pick only one pages folder which is configured in the same properties file as follows:

#-------------------------------------------------------------------------
# P S M L
#-------------------------------------------------------------------------
# ...
# default path to (XML) PSML pages root folder
psml.pages.path = ${applicationRoot}/WEB-INF/pages

Regards,

Woonsan
