[jira] [Created] (QPID-5743) Explain how to use pkg-config to locate proton.

Alan Conway created QPID-5743:
---------------------------------

Summary: Explain how to use pkg-config to locate proton.
                 Key: QPID-5743
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/QPID-5743
             Project: Qpid
          Issue Type: Improvement
          Components: Documentation
            Reporter: Alan Conway
            Assignee: Alan Conway

Current INSTALL file has

Note: If you are using a custom installed Proton it is recommended that
you use version 0.7 or later and use the same install prefix for both Proton
and Qpid. This is the easiest way that will ensure that Qpid finds and uses
Proton.

It removed the 0.26 note about using pkg conf.

Using the same prefix is the right default but we also need to explain how to use pkgconf
- some users may need to stay on proton < 0.7 for some reason
- some users may need to install qpid in a different prefix from proton (e.g. proton in shared /usr/local installation that also has a qpid installed, developer needs to build custom qpid in /home/foo/my-dev-qpid installation.
