Twitter widget on Apache project website.

Hello,

We'd like to add twitter widget to apachehama website for display
recent tweets about #apachehama on Twitter as below:

https://issues.apache.org/jira/secure/attachment/12458027/screenshot.PNG

I just wonder whether there is a problem with ASF policy.

Thanks!

I totally agree with you.

But, Twitter is really good one of the channel for communicating with
users, and viral promoting our software ...

Fwd: Twitter widget on Apache project website.

Posted by "Edward J. Yoon" <ed...@apache.org>.
Today, I opened discussion on whether there is a problem with ASF
policy about adding twitter widget.

I was committed HAMA-320, but it might be re-opened.

The problem with pretty much all widgets provided by third parties is they track users and thus are not suitable for apache.org servers (not sure if that is policy or my preference).

An alternative is to hack up our own widgets, perhaps using Wookie (incubating).

There is a twitter widget in Jira that needs a little work. However, we would need a stable version of Wookie running somewhere.

I'd be happy to help make this happen if there were enough interest and infra were happy.

Sent from my mobile device.

Also be in mind the Infra policies surrounding webapps/sites etc.

Which widget exactly?

I would not be happy if an inclusion of a widget would enable a company
to track visitors of apache.org.

Cheers,
Andreas
