Trafodion Release R2.4

Thanks everyone for your kind words. Thanks Sean for volunteering and
successfully completing Trafodion Release 2.3. I will be seeking guidance
from prior release managers, but generally I will be using the Apache
Release policy at http://www.apache.org/legal/release-policy.html#what to
guide me in the role of Release Manager for Trafodion Release 2.4.

I would want to give at least a couple of months for the contributors to
contribute before creating the release candidate. I would like to propose
the following to be included in Trafodion Release R2.4

a) Remove unused implementations such as use of libhdfs to read hive text
formatted files and unused code to enable new contributors to understand
the code better.

b) Improvements in Trafodion LOB implementation.

c) Improve the performance of Trafodion in general by reducing path length
where ever possible. [TRAFODION-3280]

d) Make Trafodion Release for RH7 platform.

d) Ensure that open pull requests are reviewed and merged in a timely
manner.

c) Encourage the contributors from Esgyn Corporation to apply fixes in
Trafodion.

I will update the Trafodion Website in a week after getting feedback from
Trafodion developers.

It seems like we could remove support in trafodion for very old versions of CDH distro (older than CDH5.7), which would cut a couple versions of TRX out of the build process.
