how to implement my own security valve?

Hello,
I´m new to JetSpeed and I need to know how to implement my own security valve?
What I want is to create my own authentication system and integrate it to jetspeed 2.1. 
I have read that implementing my own security valve is the solution for my purpose, but I don´t find any documentation about it.
