Tomcat 3.1 under IBM JRE 1.3

I was wondering if anyone has had any luck running Tomcat
under IBM Java 1.3 under Linux?

I tried for a little while, but I seemed to have problems with
Tomcat freezing up so we went back to Sun/Blackdown
1.2.2 RC4.

Are there any solutions to this?  Has anyone else had problems
along this line?
