It seems there is a solution, at least in OOo 2.0.x.
Go to File > Properties > User Defined. The "Info" fields are stored as plain 
text. You can even rename them, so that e.g. "Info 1" becomes "Archive".
I don't know how long this will go on being supported, but it's good enough 
for now,
