DefaultHttpClient does not use anymore param ClientPNames.COOKIE_POLICY
HttpParams is now deprecated but current code should be compatible.
With a HttpClient built using HttpClientBuilder, everything works fine.

Here is a sample code that worked in 4.2.3. It is supposed to use BrowserCompatSpec but uses BestMatchSpec instead:

HttpClient httpClient = new DefaultHttpClient();
HttpUriRequest request = new HttpGet("http://localhost:8080/");
request.getParams().setParameter(ClientPNames.COOKIE_POLICY, CookiePolicy.BROWSER_COMPATIBILITY);
HttpResponse response = httpClient.execute(request);
