Is HWPF Mail Merge available

I'm trying to find a way to do a mail merge of a word document on Weblogic
server running on Solaris.

I looked at the POI web pages. One page said that HWPF so far can only
read a simple word file and write it out. Another page mentioned that mail
merge was scheduled to be done in September 2003. I've looked at the Java
Docs and can't see how I would do a mail merge. Is it available and if so
what classes/methods should I look at?
