Server 2008 x64 + Java + Tomcat - does not work

Hi all.
I have installed test x64 environment. Server 2008. I have installed latest
Tomcat as well (6.0) and latest Java (1.6).
I had ot install JAVA 32bit - Tomcat did not wanted to start. I know that
service is 32 bit (i can see in task manager *32 at the end) and it can not
start Java 64 bit. I have tried install JDK and JRE 64 bit and det JAVA_HOME
to point to JDK 1.6 x64 and after configure Tomcat to use JRE x64.
The problem is - does not want to work. I have tried lots of things i have
found but none of those works.
Could anyone help, please?

It might be a good idea. But it is quite "stable" version and i have no
problems with all "componentd|".
I am strugling with Tomcat and Java "only".
On Solaris 10 works perfect. Java 1.6 and Tomcat6 - no problems at all
I am trying to resolve this problem

Since Windows server 2008 is still in beta, it may be a windows issue
rather than a TC issue.

In addition:

I have installed JAVA 1.6 and Tomcat 1.6 on my machine (XP) and all works
Perfect.
I have installed 32bit version on 2008 x64 and it does work but not perfect.

I can not start using (zipped version) startup.bat script. If i use Windows
installer it works. The problem is i wna to jump JAVA memory limits on 32bit
OS.

I have Solaris 10 ad Tomcat 6 and Java 1.5 x64 and all works perfect.

The 1 and only problem is with 2008 server.
I want to resolve that issue

Regards

Yes

I have tried this but it is not Tomcat 6.
It does not work with tomcat 6 at all. We wanto to "go forward" and move all
to Java 1.6 and tomcat 6
Last resource will be to "go back" to Tomcat5
I can not run Tomcat from BAT script (i do not know why but i am searching
solutions)
As soon As i will be able to run I will update this post. So far i can not
manage this to work.
I am searching for any possible solutions. so far I did manage Run on TOmcat
6 and Java 1.6 (but 32bit)

You should search through the list archives, e.g. at Nabble.com. In
this list there were several reports of successfully running Tomcat on
64-bit Windows during the last 6 months. Though that required some
manual configuration or tweaks.

Have a look at
1) http://www.nabble.com/Installing-Tomcat-on-Windows-Server-2003-x64-td10294769.html#a10301090

2)
http://www.nabble.com/Advice-about-Tomcat-on-x86_64-architecture..-td11500727.html#a13279694

I suggest you to
1) make sure that Java itself is running correctly for this OS and hardware,
2) start Tomcat from *.bat files (look into zip distributive, as those
are not included with exe installer) to make sure that it can run on
pure java,

If 1) or 2) fail, it is Java / OS / configuration issue.

3) only if steps 1) and 2) show correct results, proceed with
installing 64 bit versions of service executables, as suggested in
reply by Mark Thomas.

Try using the 64 bit version of the service executables

http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/tomcat/connectors/trunk/procrun/bin/

Try simply renaming the AMD64 versions to tomcat6.exe and tomcat6w.exe,
respectively.

What i have done
1) i have uninstalled all (java and tomcat)
2) i have downloaded Java x64 and TOmcat 5.5 (zipped version)
3) i have replaced Tomcat5.exe and Tomcar5w.exe with x64 version but AMTx64
(not IA - does not work even if inside servers are XEON precessors)
4) i have installed service (service install command, and of course
catalina_home point to c:\apache\tomcat5.5)
5) start and works, JAVA 1.6 x64 but Tomcat 5.5 no t 6

But still i am doing some research for Tomcat 6 solution
