JMX CounterRepository overhead

Hey there,

I'm new here and am currently evaluating ways to monitor our J2EE
application better.
So I read that Apache CXF provides great statistics about response times,
faults occured, etc but that that comes with the price of an overhead.

Can somebody maybe tell me from experience how high that overhead is and if
the enabling of those metrics is suitable for a live environment?
